It's not easy to accept the fact, healthcare has become health business. Its failed promise of PIP to address pain leaves a broken trail of chronic pain and disability. A fix of pills, imaging and procedures are the standard medical course for most people suffering with movement related pain. The fix is a lie and anyone with an ounce of medical training can't deny it. Let's face it, the human body must adhere to basic life principles. In order to survive, our nervous system is driven to struggle towards balance and homeostasis. All 10 systems of the human body are optimal when there is a balance between structure and function. Each of these systems are easily defined with a central or primary structure and a critical function. Why is it that we expect both structure and function to be considered when managing any system except the movement system? The function of the movement system is completely ignored, instead there is over utilization of imaging to identify problematic structures which leads to more drugs and surgical procedures.
There is another option, it involves treating the movement system as a unique but integrated human system with over 300 pairs of muscles and complex joint structures with fascia and nerves that are dependent on flow. The flow of blood and neural input at the right time and right sequence to insure stability is dynamic and loading is shared across the entire chain. If we respect the role of the movement system being reliant upon tissue alliance to facilitate the flow of tension and load then we are willing to accept the system is designed to heal.
